PSPA Highlights 2010-2011

Fundraising Highlights:

  • Sold close to $44,000.00 in PA Merchandise- implemented credit card and blue card sales; held Merchandise Sales throughout the year, in addition to online sales.
  • Hosted the 21st annual Summer Opportunities Fair with approximately 90 Vendors attending, earning approximately $16,000.00.  Produced a promotional video of the event that was broadcast on local access cable TV and our website.
  • Sponsored, sold and distributed 170 Senior DVD’s with complete video coverage of Graduation and Senior Events.

PSPA Contribution highlights:

  • Provided the Academy with a check for $6000.00 in support of the endowment.
  • Initiated Special Projects funding to spend down PSPA income surplus and contribute to departments where PSPA has not previously contributed. This resulted in the following contributions:
    • Hosted the first annual Faculty Appreciation Breakfast
    • Reached out to every parent, regardless of distance, with a meet and greet on Opening Weekend; hosting a non-sibi day event that all could participate in; posting PSPA monthly meetings on PA Net; creating a Facebook group just for parents to communicate with one another; and conducting a survey to gather feedback on how well PSPA is serving parents.
    • Provided students with a check for $5000.00 towards funding grants for student clubs.
    • Held eight informational parent meetings including: the Fall reception with Barbara Landis Chase; a reception and tour of the renovated Addison Gallery; a presentation by a reknowned developmental psychologist; a panel on PA’s summer programs; a substance abuse prevention program; a panel on caring for Andover students; and two meetings in conjunction with the College Counseling Office.
    • Sponsored and supplied refreshments for the Senior Pre-Prom Party
    • Sponsored several class events including a Mexican themed dinner for Seniors; laser tag for Uppers, an Ice Cream event for Lowers and a movie night for Juniors.
  • Donated $1200.00 toward Spring Carnival t-shirts for tie-die
  • Updating the student athlete photo gallery in the Athletic Center
  • Purchasing an ipod player and HD Video camera for the Theatre and Dance department
  • Support of various Community Service Programs including Youth Development Organization, ARC spring event, and the seafood jamboree for the South Carolina alternative spring break.
  • Partial funding for the Addison Gallery’s purchase of a drawing by artist-in-residence Tristan Perich ’00.
  • Co sponsorship of the “Climate Challenges:Global and Local” event
  • Sponsorship of a “Kitchen Table Project”- a senior dessert held in faculty homes
