1. I live far away and cannot attend the meetings. Is it possible to see a webcast?

A: Parents who are unable to attend will be able to view a video of the event, which will be posted on the PSPA Web site 2-3 days after the meeting. The instructions for accessing the video of this and other past meetings are as follows:
a) Log on to www.andover.edu
b) Click on the PANet link
c) Enter your Parent Portal ID and Password provided by the Academy
d) Click on the PA Community tab
e) Under All School Meeting and Events box, select “Streaming Media”
f) Click on the PSPA Tab on the left

2. How do I sign-up for the PSPA mailing list?

Please visit the PSPA email list sign up page and sign up to receive emails from PSPA. Some of the information you will receive includes PSPA general meeting notices, program notes of monthly faculty speakers and invitations to attend social events for parents and students.

3. How can I volunteer to help out during events organized by PSPA?

There are volunteering opportunities during our merchandise sales and various events at the campus. Check out the volunteering opportunities section and consider giving an hour or two of your time.

4. Aside from volunteering for specific events, is there any other way parents can help out?

Some other ways of helping out are becoming host families to international students by contacting Susanne Torabi at storabi@andover.edu. You can also volunteer for the Parent Fund by contacting Sandy Butters at sbutters@andover.edu.

5. Is there a way to contact other parents who live in my town in order to share travel plans, taxis, etc for our children when they come to and from Andover?

Your first source of information is the Student Directory, which is posted online. If you are still unable to find information, send an email with your child’s name, class, address and your request to pspa@pspaandover.org and PSPA will make its best effort to help find an answer to your question.

6. My child is a day student. Is it possible to find out names of other students in our town so I can investigate carpooling?

7. Is the Summer Opportunities Fair open to families and students who DO NOT attend PA?

Yes, the Fair is open to the public. It is not a typical Camp Fair. It is geared towards students ages 13 and above. Please visit the Summer Opportunities page for additional information about this program.

8. How can I see what kinds of programs typically attend the Summer Opportunities Fair?

You can access last year’s Summer Opportunities Directory on this website. The directory lists every organization in attendance with a program description, including ages their program serves, whether they offer scholarships/financial aid, and whether they employ students.)

9. What is the Senior DVD? If my child is not a senior, would they want to purchase it?

The DVD is a video of key events throughout the year as well as some student interviews. The primary focus is on the end of year senior activities including Prom and Graduation. It is something every senior will want as it is the only video coverage of these events. While it mostly features seniors, students from other classes may appear on the video, and it is a nice live memory for them of the year and their friends in the Senior Class.

10. How does one become a PSPA board member?

PSPA holds their annual elections in March. The nomination process starts in January. Please send an email to pspa@pspaandover.org with your contact information and someone will get in touch with you. PSPA accepts applications for the position of Junior Parent Reps (2 positions) in September of every year.

11. If I cannot attend one of the general meetings but have a question to ask the guest speaker at the meeting, can I e-mail the question in advance?

Yes, please email the question to pspa@pspaandover.org to the President of PSPA and your question will be presented to the guest speaker.

12. Can I or my child make purchases online or during PSPA merchandise sales using the Blue Card?

You can use Blue Card for merchandise sale. You will be able to buy merchandise online using PayPal by in the near future.
